Restaurant Host and Food Runner

Job Overview

The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining at the resort. Hosts & Food Runners are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, Hosts & Food Runners are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and provide them with a welcoming, comfortable, and elevated dining experience.

General Responsibilities

• Greet guests, escort them to tables or appropriate waiting area, provide menus and communicate the guest arrival to the server.
• Record table status accordingly based on seating and server assignment charts.
• Maintain a clean working area by helping the team clean dining room and restaurant spaces as needed.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette. Communicate with team on guest's arrivals/needs and support the team in seating and running food and beverages.
• Collect and maintain cleanliness of menus.
• Maintain stock of silverware and assist team in daily operations.
• Keep updated records of reservations and maintain an equal flow of guests to all parts of the floor to ensure work is evenly distributed.
• Maintain communication with management, kitchen staff, service staff and guests to ensure dining details are handled properly and guest concerns are addressed.
• Maintain standards of orders leaving the kitchen and ensuring the order is correct, looks presentable, and is being delivered efficiently and to the right tables.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of restaurant offerings to communicate with guests and prepare them for their dining experience.
• Provide guidance to guests on resort activities, dining options and general resort and regional information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Experience:
• Previous guest service experience preferred.
• Excellent oral communication skills required.
• Positive interpersonal skills required.
• Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.

Discretion / Independent Judgment

This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances, as a Restaurant Host you will be expected to work with guests and visitors to ensure satisfaction. A Restaurant Host will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving guest challenges and involve a superior only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.
