Front of House Operations Coordinator

Job Overview


As an assistant to the management team, reporting to the Restaurant Manager, this position is instrumental in developing and fulfilling the short-term as well as long-term goals of the Running Y Properties. This position is responsible for creating an atmosphere that will inspire guest and team members to return. Focused on operational excellence; this role will be integrated into the Front of House Structure. The position will provide support and ensure compliance in FOH operations and development.


General Responsibilities

· Specifically, assist in directing and overseeing all front of the house F&B operations, to ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.

· Provide oversight and recommendations on beverage menus and menu execution.

· Interact with guests, clients and owners to monitor and assess satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly.

· Ensure proper use and maintenance of restaurant equipment, through appropriate cleaning and maintenance practices.

· Fully understand and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as company policies.

· Perform general management duties including, but not limited to, systems management, budget and forecasting, report generation, department management and meeting participation and facilitation in a timely manner.

· Payroll oversight and approvals.

· Evaluate and ensure team productivity through regular audits of staffing levels and supervision of daily operations.

· Effectively communicate with Restaurant Manager on all disciplinary concerns immediately.

· Complete inventory lists and ordering procedures for FOH.

· Understand and maintain waste standards and tracking.

· Perform additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by Management.

· Support staff in every FOH position as needed.


Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in front-of-house operations in a Food and Beverage establishment.
  • Have a good knowledge of service and food and beverage products in an elevated dining concept.
  • Excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a POS system.
  • Must have the stamina to work 50 to 60 hours per week.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

· Food Handlers Card

· OLCC Certification

Management Activities

  • Assists in determining the techniques to be used.
  • Assists in planning and directing the work apportioned amongst associates
  • Aids in selection and training of associates.
  • Assists in disciplining the associates by holding them accountable to our standards & policies.
  • Works closely with Restaurant Manager in the plan and control of the budget.
  • Authority to make suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other associates.

Discretion/Independent Judgment

This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances. As a FOH Operations Coordinator you will be expected to work with associates and guests to ensure satisfaction. You will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving challenges and involve a Manager only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to speak and hear, and close and distance vision.
  • Frequent standing and walking (up to 5 hours) with occasional sitting.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor/outdoor working environment, exposed to heat from cooking equipment and outdoor temperatures.
  • Will be using a computer frequently.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
