Director of Sales and Marketing

Job Overview:

Responsible for the management of the sales department and soliciting group business and implementing a successful solicitation strategy for all market segments to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.

General Responsibilities:

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Work with your direct manager to develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Help your direct manager incorporate and manage sales force to sales/catering.
  • Provide support to Sales/Catering managers to utilize the marketing plan in order to uncover potential business.
  • Oversee all marketing and social media for all outlets including lodge, golf and spa.
  • Participate in group, sales strategy; preconvention, training and other sales related meetings as required.
  • Analyze and estimate total value of each piece of business and negotiate best situation for achieving optimum revenue while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Ensure accuracy for forecasting of revenues with most updated information.
  • Originate and produce monthly forecast, annual budget and annual sales action plan.
  • Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel sales staff in conjunction with your direct manager.
  • Prepare and conduct timely and accurate reviews for all staffing levels.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all departments.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the property Employee Handbook
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or related business discipline, or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of three years sales experience in a hotel environment with an emphasis on revenue generations.
  • Minimum of three years marketing experience in a hotel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of computers including all MS Office programs.
  • Great administration skills, ability to type contract and proposals.
  • Takes ownership and accountability of projects and events.
  • Highly resourceful, organized, personable, refined and positive interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to foresee customer needs and develop long-lasting client relationships while working with high-end customers, brands and clients.
  • Creative thinker, creating themes and upscale events for our customers.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings and willingness to travel.
  • Banquet experience highly desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively.
