Banquet Manager
General Responsibilities:
- Review banquet event orders for schedule of daily functions.
- Prepare banquet rooms for assigned functions.
- Perform prioritization of the basic needs of assigned functions.
- Perform both opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain appropriate levels of food and beverage items.
- Maintain good service times.
- Perform the selection, training, supervision, development, discipline and termination of banquet employees.
- Prepare and conduct timely and accurate performance reviews with staff.
- Schedule staff for banquet functions.
- Perform quarterly inventory of all banquet equipment and maintain par level.
- Perform monthly inventory of all beverage and liquor supplies.
- Solve unusual customer requests creatively.
- Utilize knowledge of physical capabilities of banquet space.
- Maintain labor costs to meet budget.
- Know basic bar terminology, wine service and bar recipes.
- Display knowledge of food preparation and service.
- Complete all necessary paperwork as assigned.
- Ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Ensure that all doors and equipment are locked securely, everything is turned off and keys are returned.
- Conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other departments.
- Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the property Employee Handbook.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years banquet/catering experience.
- Possession of government required licenses or certificates.
- Knowledge of:
- Food, Wine and Beer
- Beverage cost control guidelines.
- Waiting tables for all meal periods and cocktail service.
- Must know or have ability to learn basic Audio Visual operations and setup.
- Basic Mathematics.
- Ability to:
- Plan, organize and direct activities of a group of employees.
- Develop an effective working relationship with managers.
- Operate a computer/computer programs and POS systems.
- Use good judgments.
- Multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Problem-solve and deal courteously and tactfully with employees and the general public.
- Work any day of the week and any hour.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Communicate effectively.
- Organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Work as part of a team.
- Read and follow both verbal and written instructions.
